The Calm Before the Storm

"This abstract seascape was born after a long walk I took along the beach at Portmarnock in Dublin on a dark blustery cold winters day last December. The sky had cumulus clouds dashing around and it was obvious rain was imminent. I pulled up the hood of my jacket and dug my hands deep into my pockets and enjoyed the cold sharp wind on my face. I do love a good storm. After getting home I took my cup of hot coffee into my workroom and started on this oil painting.

I decided to exaggerate the colours with deep luscious reds and burgundys and using dark greys and a hint of white for the menacing clouds. I felt very satisfied with the results, it was exactly as I envisioned it to be.

This picture is beautifully framed with a thick white wooden frame and wide cream mount. It is signed and ready to hang. Enjoy xx"
