It Looks Like Rain

"I love a storm, the sky tells such a good story of the approaching weather. This painting was inspired by a particularly wet and windy dismal afternoon in West Cork. Here I have used deep blues and greys to capture the thunderous cloudy sky. The dark prussian blue horizon line gives an element of drama and infinite distance. The sea is dark and moody and laps up to the rock formation which stretches onto the beach. I have used a pallet knife to create texture both on the rocks and in the sea, it is a very tactile painting.
